About the Job
The Paralegal will ensure the efficiency of the Office of the General Counsel by providing strategic, administrative, and operational support to the EVP and General Counsel and other members of the team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful, with the ability to manage a high volume of both electronic and physical files. This role requires strong communication skills and a professional demeanor to support interactions with clients, lenders, partners, and colleagues, ensuring consistently courteous and effective engagement. This role requires an in-office attendance requirement of 3 x per week, with Friday being a dedicated remote work day.

Responsibilities:
  • Participating and contributing in meetings involving a variety of real estate matters and other company legal matters;
  • Preparing routine correspondence and legal documents with minimal instruction using Microsoft Word; 
  • Assembling documents and information relating to litigation proceedings; 
  • Communicating effectively with insurance companies and adjusters regarding various complaints and lawsuits;
  • Assisting in the organization and tracking of all court cases, hearings, depositions and other court-related material to include scheduling meetings and tracking deadlines as determined by the legal team; 
  • Managing bills from outside legal vendors, including securing appropriate approvals, coordinating revisions with external firms as needed, and overseeing submission and payment tracking; 
  • Routing phone calls and scheduling internal and external meetings;  
  • Identifying and resolving miscellaneous administrative tasks; 
  • Routing requests from members of the organization to the appropriate parties within the Legal Team or outside counsel; 
  • Anticipating the business needs of the leaders dependent on this role and undertaking necessary actions to produce effective results on time; 
  • Other general clerical support including but not limited to triaging mail, making copies, scanning, obtaining signatures, and file organization; 
  • Must be able to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business or a legal-related field
  • Experience working in a legal setting is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization abilities, multitasking capabilities, and professionalism
  • Ability to work on-site in the Tysons, Virginia headquarters office three (3) days per week
  • Must have reliable personal transportation and reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Arlington/McLean/Tysons, Virginia area
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within a reasonable timeframe, a notary public commission to support document execution and authentication needs.
